Tattoo Aftercare
Proper aftercare is essential to ensure your tattoo heals correctly and maintains the quality, detail, and longevity of the artwork. Every client heals a little differently, which is why we provide clear instructions for both traditional healing and healing with Saniderm. Whether your tattoo was covered with Saniderm or wrapped with a standard bandage, following the recommended aftercare steps will help protect your skin, prevent infection, and preserve the integrity of your tattoo. Please review the instructions below carefully and follow the method that applies to your specific bandage.
Healing With Saniderm
-
Leave the Saniderm bandage on for 3–5 days unless it becomes heavily filled with fluid or begins leaking.
-
It is normal to see plasma, ink, and fluid collect under the bandage.
-
When removing the Saniderm, do so slowly under warm running water to reduce irritation.
-
Gently wash the tattoo with fragrance-free antibacterial soap and pat dry with a clean paper towel.
-
Apply a very thin layer of fragrance-free lotion and continue washing the tattoo 2–3 times daily.
-
Do not pick, scratch, or peel any flaking skin during the healing process.

Traditional Healing
(No Saniderm)
-
Wash the tattoo gently with lukewarm water and fragrance-free antibacterial soap.
-
Pat dry using a clean paper towel. Do not rub the tattoo.
-
Apply a very small amount of tattoo aftercare ointment or fragrance-free lotion.
-
Wash and moisturize the tattoo 2–3 times daily during the healing process.
-
The tattoo may peel or flake like a mild sunburn — this is normal.
What Is Normal During Healing
During the healing process, it is normal for your tattoo to experience:
• Light redness or swelling for the first day or two
• Mild itching as the skin begins to heal
• Peeling or flaking similar to a sunburn
• Slight dullness in appearance while new skin forms
Avoid swimming, soaking, tanning, or direct sun exposure until the tattoo is fully healed (typically 2–3 weeks).
